(SCROLL DOWN FOR ENGLISH) Coral Springs.- De acuerdo a un reporte publicado el mes pasado por parte de la Administración de Servicios para la salud mental y abuso de substancias, ha habido un incremento de casos de adolescentes hospitalizados que han llegado a salas de emergencia por el consumo de la droga “ecstasy” y su variante conocida como “molly”. Estas dos drogas son responsables de numerosas muertes.

Para alertar a la comunidad de padres y jóvenes, la organización House of Hope del sur de Florida presenta el taller “Vamos a hablar de marihuana y “molly”, con Guy Wheeler este domingo 16 en Coral Springs.  El objetivo es convocar a los jóvenes de escuelas intermedias y secundarias e informarlos sobre los peligros de la marihuana y “mollies” o “molly” (lenguaje urbano para describir el polvo (MDMA) en la forma más pura de la droga “ecstasy”).

“Un estudio de 2011 del Instituto Nacional para la Salud reveló que uno de 15 estudiantes de secundaria (high school) fuma marihuana casi a diario”, dice Suzanne Marcellus fundadora de House of Hope (Casa de la Esperanza) South Florida. La activista invita a toda la comunidad.

Guy Wheeler

Guy Wheeler es reconocido nacionalmente por su experiencia de más de 20 años con programas en contra de las drogas dentro y fuera de la cárcel. Wheeler fue asistente de la oficina del Sheriff de Broward e impulsó el programa único ATACC en 1989 para tratar con este tipo de problema, siendo reconocido por el gobierno en 1998.

House of Hope, South Florida’s Founder, Suzanne Marcellus related that the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration released a report last month, that there is an increase in the number of teens visiting hospital emergency rooms for issues related to the use of ecstasy and its variant, a club drug responsible for killing many teens, known as Molly. She explained that a December 2011 study, released by the National Institutes of Health, showed that one out of every 15 high school students smokes marijuana on a near-daily basis and expects this workshop to result in teens making healthier choices for themselves and parents being equipped with the knowledge they need to protect their teens.
