Faithful Action: Preventing Exploitation and Human Trafficking Among Youth in a COVID Environment

The month of January 2021 is National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month as issued by the President’s proclamation. This proclamation highlights some of the recent efforts to combat human trafficking across several agencies, and it includes the critical role of faith‑based and community organizations that provide survivors with vital services. The proclamation also identifies a comprehensive National Action Plan to Combat Human Trafficking (NAP) built around the “three pillars” of the Victims of Trafficking and Violence Protection Act of 2000 (TVPA): prevention, protection, and prosecution. And, the proclamation highlights the Department of Homeland Security’s newly launched Center for Countering Human Trafficking.

To commemorate this month, the Department of Homeland Security Center for Faith and Opportunity Initiatives is hosting a webinar to highlight youth prevention educational programs, strategies and resources to counter exploitation and human trafficking in a COVID environment.
