Mother’s Day Celebration at Manatee Lagoon

An FPL Eco-Discovery Center invites families to celebrate Mother’s Day at our beautiful waterfront location with a free, family-friendly event. Join us on Sunday, May 11 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for an afternoon of exciting and educational activities.

On the second Sunday of every month, Manatee Lagoon offers Lectures at the Lagoon, which feature insightful information from a range of environmental experts. This upcoming lecture, taking place on Mother’s Day, is “Creating Vibrant, Sustainable Landscapes with Native Wildflowers, Grasses and Groundcovers.”

Starting at 2 p.m., this captivating lecture explores how to create thriving landscapes with native plants that bring in pollinators and butterflies. Different types of sustainable gardens will be discussed, such as creating a wildflower-filled meadow, adding groundcovers to create lively lawns full of butterflies and using native grasses to add color to any landscape. Registration for the lecture is required; click here to register.

Activities include:

·       Creating a unique flower bouquet to gift Mom

·       Enjoying a variety of delicious food vendors

·       Flower photo wall

·       Mia the Manatee photo ops

·       Exploring the wonders of the Lake Worth Lagoon through engaging exhibits

“We are excited to honor and celebrate all moms at Manatee Lagoon this Mother’s Day,” said Meredith Rollo, manager at Manatee Lagoon. “This special event is a great opportunity for families to learn something new, create lasting memories and enjoy the breathtaking beauty of our local ecosystem.”

This event is free and open to the public and all are welcome to join the festivities. Plus, there will be a raffle to win some amazing Manatee Lagoon goodies.
