Suicide has emerged as a national crisis, now the 11th leading cause of death in the United States. In 2022, almost 50,000 Americans died by suicide, while 1.6 million people attempted suicide.
In Texas, the numbers on suicide are startling:
- A life is lost to suicide every two hours.
- Since 2000, mortalities by suicide have surged by 36%.
- From 2000 to 2020, that rate escalated by 50%.
These stark statistics underscore the growing need for mental health support and resources. Anxiety, depression and suicidal ideation are at unprecedented levels, affecting families, friends and communities across the state.
In response to this crisis, NickV Ministries is stepping forward to offer compassionate outreach and faith-based programs. On October 27th, Nick Vujicic’s NickV Ministries will host an evening of hope and healing in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, a region facing its own mental health challenges, where one in six adults and one in five young people report struggling with mental illness.
Nick Vujicic understands firsthand the challenges surrounding mental health.
“First and foremost, I will never tell someone I understand their pain or compare my pain to someone else’s, brokenness is brokenness,” says Nick. “And I will tell you right now, we know it, we have seen it: Suicide rates, all-time high — Gen Z, the most prevalent suicidal generation that we have ever seen in our nation. It is not just America, it is worldwide. It is not a new thing. And we know that there has been some awareness in our country. We have been so blessed that here at the NickV Ministries, we are able to talk about the topics that pastors do not want to talk about or do not know how to talk about, or youth pastors.”

“Ever since we moved our headquarters to Dallas back in 2021 NickV Ministries has felt a strong calling to embrace the Dallas-Fort Worth community like never before, especially the young people and those who need to find hope in Jesus Christ,” says Nick. “After our Big Jesus Tent event last year in Allen, Texas we felt called to continue to pursue the brokenhearted right here in our backyard. We are grateful for Mesquite Arena’s support and for Mayor Daniel Alemán’s partnership as we get ready for ‘I Found Hope Dallas.’”
