“With these two special holiday offerings, we are pleased to give the gift of exceptional car wash services, while providing young adults with autism employment and the opportunity to realize their capabilities, gain confidence, attain financial independence and make friends,” said Thomas D’Eri, co-founder and COO of Rising Tide Car Wash. “Car Wash Club members help our mission to empower adults with autism through gainful employment and support our industry-leading training program that teaches professionals the employment skills necessary to succeed as valuable members of the community.”

Thomas D’Eri and his father John D’Eri, CEO of Rising Tide Car Wash, co-founded Rising Tide Car Wash to develop a scalable solution for employing individuals with autism. They were inspired to do this by watching John’s son and Thomas’ brother Andrew, a vibrant young man with autism, struggle to find his place in the world. Rising Tide Car Wash has created an innovative model that intentionally designs the work environment in a way that empowers individuals with autism to thrive and produce extraordinary results.

Now with approximately 90 employees with autism and three locations, Rising Tide Car Wash is one of the largest employers of people with autism in the U.S.

Currently, unemployment among people with autism is approximately 85 percent, and at least 500,000 more individuals with autism will enter the workforce in the next decade. The D’Eris are striving to change the root cause of this unemployment: society views autism as a disability as opposed to diversity. Rising Tide boasts an alumni network of over 100 individuals with autism who are working at new jobs in the community.

Rising Tide has been honored with the U.S. Senate Small Business of the Week designation; The Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD), Blind Services, and Vocational Rehabilitation’sFlorida Exceptional Employers designation; Daniel Jordan Fiddle Foundation Leader in Adult Autism Award, Community Service Leadership Award from the International Carwash Association® (ICA), Employer of the Year by the Autism Society, Small Business of the Year by South Florida Business Connection, the Autism Society’s Adam Heavner Memorial Award for Employer of the Year, TEDxCoconutGrove’s Hope Prize, Autism Speaks Community Ally, and more.

Thomas D’Eri is also the author of the best-selling book, “The Power of Potential,” where he discusses employment opportunities for workers with autism, discovers and corrects common problems that typically fly under the radar in businesses, and tells readers the inspiring reason why. The book has received praise from notable authors including Seth Godin, Chip Health, Temple Grandin, Steve Silberman and Chris Yeh.
