The 2018 Hispanic Women of Distinction luncheon another sell-out

Hispanic Women gather to celebrate Community, Culture and Charity August 24th

There is nothing more exciting than to spend a South Florida afternoon honoring 12 Latinas who have contributed to the south Florida communities and a Latina Pioneer for 2018.   The Hispanic Women of Distinction Charity luncheon to be held on August 24th at Signature Grand in Davie, Florida is another sell-out of more than 900 guests paying tribute to Latina professionals who are strengthening the social fabric of this country and making inroads in the leadership pipeline for a growingly diverse America. This year, more than 60 nominations were submitted by prior honorees, community leaders and non-profit groups. 

Presented by Latina Style Magazine the nation’s leader in Hispanic women business, in partnership with Bank of America and AARP, Florida, the event includes a complimentary “mojito” and silent auction, designer runway fashion show and a business expo sponsored by AARP, Real Possibilities.  Past honorees will open the show and strut the 140 foot runway to get the excitement started.  NBC6/Telemundo investigative reporter, Myriam Masihy as Mistress of Ceremonies will kick off the show.

The event benefits Habitat for Humanity Broward which brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. Habitat Broward has partnered with more than 400 hard-working, low-income families to make the dream of home ownership possible. It offers a hand-up, not a hand-out to low income families who are unable to qualify for conventional financing and are willing to work hard to improve their family’s lives. Women Build, a signature Habitat program, will raise 12 homes for families this fall in its newest, largest community: A Rick Case Habitat Community in Pompano Beach, featuring 77 Habitat homes and a community park when complete. Special guests include:  Maria Marin, Motivational speaker, Social Media Influencer, Radio & TV Personality who is also the Ambassador for AARP.  With more than 1, 300,000 followers she reaches each week, Maria as entered the field of self help where she has changed lives.  

A special tribute to Congresswoman Ileana Ros Lehtinen will be presented by Robert Bard, publisher and CEO of Latina Style Magazine.  Congresswoman Ros Lehtinen was named the 2007 Latina Pioneer by the Hispanic Women of Distinction group and is retiring after almost 4 decades of service to South Florida and the United States.

La Poderosa Radio will air their radio programs live at the luncheon interviewing honorees, sponsors and community leaders and with a host of media partners who participate annually promoting the honorees and their contributions.
