The Broward Center for Performing Arts announces spring classes

The Broward Center for the Performing Arts announces spring classes for all ages at the Rose Miniaci Arts Education Center. 

Enrollment is now open for spring semester classes as well as a new winter song and dance intensive workshop.

RMEC Classes (1)FORT LAUDERDALE – Enrollment is now open for the spring semester of classes at the Rose Miniaci Arts Education Center located on the Broward Center for the Performing Arts campus. Classes offer a range of opportunities for people of all ages to learn something new and discover their creative side. Class sizes are limited to ensure personalized instruction.

Among the highlights of the newly-announced class offerings are:

  • a three-day intensive song and dance workshop held December 28 – 30  for students ages 8-14 that focuses on developing performing skills in musical theater and culminates in a showcase in the JM Family Studio Theater;
  • the new Special Stars 12-week class, for those ages 16 – adult, designed for students with disabilities to enhance verbal skills, improve movement, build self-confidence and advance socialization;
  • the Broward Center Spotlights and Junior Spotlights vocal ensembles for ages 8 -18 that have opportunities to perform at Broward Center events and throughout the community; and
  • the Spring Musical class, for ages 11 – 19, which culminates in a performance of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat on stage in the Amaturo Theater.

Spring semester classes begin in January and most continue for 10 weeks. Classes are tailored to the appropriate skill level from beginner to the more advanced student.  Auditions will be held in early January for Spring Musical, Spotlights and Junior Spotlights.

Students ages five to 18 can enjoy a variety of musical theater classes in singing, dancing and acting. Classes available for adults include acting, singing and improv. A range of SmARTS classes for toddlers and preschoolers up to age five offer an integrated approach to early learning by incorporating creative movement, music, props, storytelling, drama and art.

The public is invited to an open house on Sunday, January 3 from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Guests can tour the education center facilities, observe or participate in sample classes, meet the teaching artists, enjoy family-friendly activities, win prizes and register to win a spring class.

The open house schedule, the spring semester class listing, audition dates, and information detailing the Winter Song and Dance Workshop is all available at browardcenter.org/education. Online registration is fast and easy, and those who purchase a second class enjoy a 10% discount. All class fees include complimentary parking.

The Special Stars class has been underwritten by the Michael & Merle Orlove Family Foundation and Excellent Health Care, Inc.

The Broward Center for the Performing Arts is located in the Riverwalk Arts & Entertainment District at 201 SW Fifth Avenue in Fort Lauderdale.
