Broward County School Teachers Experience a Day of Learning with Florida Power & Light Company

Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) co-hosted a professional development day for teachers at Imagine School at Broward to enhance their knowledge of FPL’s newly revamped energy curriculum, which has been expanded to include fourth to eighth grades with lessons on coding. The free, open-source online curriculum contains lessons and activities that can be used by teachers in the classroom or as a demonstration.

This learning workshop, free to teachers, includes two sessions about FPL’s Energy Curriculum, giving teachers the chance to better understand the curriculum and how to utilize these lessons in their classrooms.

“We are excited to work with Imagine School at Broward on this Professional Development Day. These workshops not only give us a way to share our free energy curriculum with teachers, but it helps us further strengthen our partnership with the school for years to come,” said Sarah Marmion, senior manager of community education and programs at FPL. “We know that our teachers are the key to student achievement, and we want to make sure they have the resources they need to be successful.”

The professional development day was held at Imagine School at Broward in partnership with FPL, Ohana Solutions and Imagine Schools.

“FPL’s dedication to education has made a positive impact in countless students’ lives, and we are grateful for their commitment to shaping a brighter future for teachers and students at our schools,” said Susan Onori, South Florida regional director at Imagine Schools. “Workshops like this help equip our teachers with the tools and resources necessary to provide a quality learning experience for their students.”

FPL plans to continue these professional development days to give back to the community and help guide teachers as they teach the next generation of innovators.
