Day of service for Miami Open Unites

The Miami Open Unites day of service took place today with the world’s best players rolling up their sleeves to get involved in giving back to the community of Miami-Dade County who have made them feel so welcome at the Hard Rock Stadium.

Stefanos Tsitsipas, Sebastian Korda, Caroline Dolehide and Hailey Baptiste traded rackets for paint brushes as they joined with Rebuilding Together to help rehabilitate the homes of senior citizens in Miami Gardens, providing help with painting and landscaping.

Casper Ruud, Alex de Minaur, Grigor Dimitrov, Jessica Pegula, Katie Boulter and Zheng Qinwen headed to the Humane Society of Greater Miami to lend a hand in the care of the lost and forgotten animals of South Florida.

 Karen Khachanov, Sloane Stephens and Tournament Director James Blake joined up to support Serving Up Greater Equity Against Breast Cancer with the WTA Foundation’s ACEing Cancer Program. Promise Fund, Baptist Health and Hologic are working together to support greater awareness and breast health for medically underserved women throughout the greater Miami region.

 Jasmine Paolini, Jack Draper, Cam Norrie and Nicolás Jarry joined Health in the Hood in Pinewood Gardens planting seeds with the aim of creating healthy communities by building vegetable gardens and teaching wellness in some of Miami’s neediest neighborhoods.

Holger Rune, Alexander Zverev, Hubert Hurkacz, Mackie McDonald, Caroline Garcia and Donna Vekic worked with volunteers at Miami Rescue Mission to serve dinner to those living at the shelter where the ambition is to provide food, shelter and programs to the homeless of South Florida.

The day of service for Miami Open Unite players ended with an energetic clinic at the amazing Moore Park Tennis Center which was founded by Miami Open founder Butch Buchholz and tennis legend Arthur Ashe. Felix Auger-Aliassime, Shang Juncheng, Sofia Kenin, Madison Keys and Tournament Director James Blake visited and even took to the court for clinics with the kids. Run by First Serve Miami, children from the premier mentoring organization, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami were joined by Amigos for Kids for the first time. Working to prevent child abuse and neglect by valuing children, strengthening families, and educating communities, Amigos for Kids are partnering new tournament partner, Protective.

The players will turn their attention back to tennis and the Miami Open, which continues Tuesday through March 31 at Hard Rock Stadium.
