Del número total de hispanos, 31.1 millones, casi la mitad eran ciudadanos elegibles para votar. La otra mitad incluye a menores y adultos que no son ciudadanos. Estas cifras indican que debe hacerse un esfuerzo deliberado para aumentar el registro y la participación electoral de los ciudadanos hispanos. Un ejemplo reciente de ese esfuerzo ocurrió el pasado 19 de septiembre, en el Día Nacional de Registrarse para Votar, por la famosa cantante Taylor Swift (The Washington Post 09|25|23).
En el mensaje de Instagram anunciando su nuevo álbum, “1989 Taylor’s Version,” la cantante le pidió a sus seguidores expresar sus voces en las elecciones de este año. El tráfico en el sitio Vote.org aumentó más de 1,200 por ciento, a un promedio de 13,000 usuarios cada media hora. Al final del día, se registraron más de 35,000 nuevos votantes, significativamente muchos de 18 años, el mayor número registrado desde la elección presidencial de 2020.

These numbers indicate that a deliberate effort should be made to increase the registration and the electoral participation among Hispanic citizens. A recent example of such effort happened last September 19, on the National Voter Registration Day, by the famous singer Taylor Swift (The Washington Post 09/25/23).
In the Instagram posting of her next album, “1989 Taylor’s Version,” the singer asked her fans to use their voices in this year’s elections.
