State Farm® and the Arbor Day Foundation Distributing Trees in Miami

This week, a national collaboration between State Farm and the Arbor Day Foundation comes to Miami in the form of a tree giveaway event.

Miami-Dade County has suffered tree canopy loss and damage from tropical storms, flooding and hurricanes. Hurricane Irma in 2017 caused an estimated 30 percent loss of the urban tree canopy.

On Oct. 29, local State Farm agents will gather alongside volunteers from Million Trees Miami-Dade County to distribute 500 trees to residents on a first come, first served basis.

Earlier this year, State Farm announced a $700,000 pledge to the Arbor Day Foundation to support tree planting projects in areas impacted by natural disasters such as wildfires, hurricanes, tornadoes, and other challenges like urban heat islands.

“Trees can help make communities more resilient,” said Rasheed Merritt, State Farm Vice President of Corporate Responsibility. “State Farm is committed to helping communities recover from disasters and manage future risks, and we are proud to support local tree planting as part of this effort.”
