Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) high school students can now enjoy a new addition to their school lunch: Hoke Poke bowls!

Resulting in feedback from high school students when asked what they would like to eat for lunch, made-to-order poke bowls topped the list. The request has made its way to a fun, two-day pop-up station that is currently traveling among Broward County public high schools. The rotating pop-up debuted on October 14 at Western High School in Davie where students had the opportunity to try this new lunch option.

The Hoke Poke pop up is a poke bowl station where students can pick their base, protein, toppings, and other add-ons to create a customized, healthy bowl for lunch. Bases vary and can include cooked chicken, fish and eggs as a protein choice along with rotating options including rice, noodles, fresh veggies and a choice of sauces for authentic flavor. All ingredients are subject to change based on availability of ingredients.

BCPS lunches are healthier now than ever, with more fruits and vegetables, more whole grains, and less fat and sodium. Cafeterias have also expanded their vegan and vegetarian options beyond the everyday salad.
