The US and The Holocaust Sneak Preview with South Florida PBS

South Florida PBS (WPBT, WXEL, & Health Channel) will be hosting two live screening events for the new film by Ken Burns, Lynn Novick, and Sarah Botstein The US and The Holocaust. This three-part, six hour series examines America’s response to one of the greatest humanitarian crises of the twentieth century. Americans consider themselves a “nation of immigrants,” but as the catastrophe of the Holocaust unfolded in Europe, the United States proved unwilling to open its doors to more than a fraction of the hundreds of thousands of desperate people seeking refuge.

Join us on September 13th at the Sanctuary of the Arts in Coral Gables and September 15th at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. We will be showing a sneak peek of the film as well as hosting a community conversation with a panel of esteemed guests. The Sanctuary of the Arts screening will be moderated by host of South Florida PBS’ Your South Florida, Pam Giganti. Panelists for the community conversation after this screening include Dr. Michael Berenbaum, Dr. Miriam Klein Kassenoff, Dr. Haim Shaked, and Dr. Nicole Freeman.

The September 15th screening at Florida Atlantic University’s University Library is hosted by host of South Florida PBS’ Between the Covers, Ann Bocock. Panelists include Linda Medvin, Dr. Alan Berger, Dr. Patricia Kollander, and Dr. Michael Berenbaum.
