Maddie wishes for a “girlie” bedroom and her favorite color is pink. Thanks to Special Spaces Boca Raton and State Farm®, nine-year-old Maddie, from Delray Beach who is undergoing treatment for Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare type of cancer that affects muscle tissue, will receive her wish.
Maddie is the fifth of nine children. Mom home schools all the kids and dad is a fireman in Pompano Beach. On Dec. 4 and 5, Special Spaces Boca and State Farm agents teamed up to create a beautiful bedroom for Maddie and her sisters with whom she shares her room. Her brother’s bedroom (4 brothers share the room were also spruced up with new bedding, window treatments and some decorative items.
“After months of behind the scenes planning, volunteers come together to change the life of a child. Children and their families feel supported, cared for, and with their new dream room, they are left with a tangible space the whole family can rally around to bring peace and hope.” says Special Spaces Boca Chapter Director Peggy Peterson. “We offer sustainable change. Our rooms are transformed but our impact is limitless.”
